Broken mouse scroll

Hi guys.
I've recently stumbled across a razzer copperhead mouse.
and as you know theyre not cheap and they look ..awesome.
well i came across it broken though. the mouse scroll was broken ( see picture)


the broken part is made out of plastic. so natrully i glued it and that work untill i pressed it in to use the middle mouse button and it snapped of again.
Do you guys have any tips on how to resolve this issue ?

maybe some sort of re-enforcing sleeve over the mend.
May the hinges of our friendship
        never grow rusty.

Two options:

Reinforce with a sleeve placed over the broken part of the shaft glued with epoxy.

Or

Drill a small hole  on the center of  both ends of the broken shaft stubs, then insert and glue in to place a rod or a stiff wire.
