KENMORE SERIES 80 WASHER

This machine worked perfect at a family members house. It was put in my basement about 3 years ago, didn't need it at the time. Now I need it so I hooked up water supply etc... Machine filled normally but when it started to agitate I smelled a very strong smell of plastic or something electrical burning.
When I tried to pump the water out of the machine it tripped the circut breaker.
I later found out that the guys that moved the machine here were not especially happy about it and tossed this machine around a lot.
Also, I removed the casing to run machine without it. How do I bypass the lid switch ? I have 3 wires, blk. w/white stripe - grn w/yellow stripe and solid grey .
Any help or ideas appreciated.

Don't hook up a washer that's been sitting for 3 years and expect it to run.

No doubt you need a service call to assess the atrophy and the damage done from negligence in transport..

check the wires with a meter . The green wire probably is the ground wire. leave that one alone and jumper the other 2. But to be sure check each wire for chassis ground. The 2 that are not grounded to chassis will be the winners.
