changed the motor coupling alright but now it whistles?

I got the broken motor coupling on this top loader repaired (it was a lot more work getting that motor back in place then I thought it would be though)

the machine is operating right correctly but when it is agitating or spinning now it has a loud high pitched whistle. Can anyone advise me what I need to do to correct this? thank you

Take it all back apart and make sure the coupling is not to tight against the tranny and motor and binding up.

ok.. the whistle stopped after a load or 2 but now it has stopped altogether in mid-load and will not start and it needs to drain also! What did I do to it?

Disconnect the motor from its mounts, leaving the wires connected. Put a jumper wire in the lid switch connector. Set the timer to spin. If the motor runs you have a brake or tranny problem or a garment stuck between tubs. If the motor does not run check the water pump for an obstruction. If no water pump obstruction ..bad motor.

maybe your lid switch connection came loose.

JW can you point me to that lid switch connection? Is it on the electrical panel? I am getting around to working on it again this week. Also it seems to put off that electrical smell now when it runs, altho it is running pretty good despite me being behind repairing it.

Use a screwdriver to remove the screws holding down the control panel,then swing it upwards.

gotcha! today's the day I go back in. I know when I put the cabinet back on I couldn't get it to line up right, it's off center and maybe that's affecting things.
