Hot Surface indicator light stays on
« on: August 28, 2015, 01:56:45 AM »
The hot surface indicator light on my GE range (model JCSP42SR1SS) for the front left element stays on, even when all the burners are switched off. The front left burner is not working anymore, and the hot surface light stays on.

I replaced the infinite switch control for the front left element with a new switch since it was burnt from long use and I thought that's what was causing the issue, but replacing the switch didn't solve my problem. The front left element still doesn't heat up and the indicator light stays on. All other elements are fine.

Could it be a problem with the element? Or is there anything else I can check? Please advise.
