Electrolux to Lay Off Workers in Webster City, IA
(1/1)
AJ:
More workers are getting laid off at the Electrolux washer and dryer plant in Webster City, IA, U.S. According to an AP report, 20 workers will be laid off on Dec. 8. That's in addition to 99 jobs cut last month.
Company spokesman Tony Evans says both rounds of layoffs are due to the economy and a softening demand for appliances. Before the layoffs, the Webster City plant had 1400 workers. (AP)

I'm suprised that it isn't because of NAFTA. Where I live there was a whirlpool factory, use to be called norge, not sure which town, maybe westfrankfurt Illinois, but it closed down and moved to mexico, of course NAFTA, then on the news I heard a lady saying she use to work there and made like 18 bucks an hour, she was thinking of it as a new beginning, well all I could think of saying was, Good Luck Lady! 18 bucks an hour, you'll never find a job making that in this area, unless your a nurse or coal miner.
