Wahser Seems Dead
« on: December 10, 2008, 11:28:24 PM »
I have a WWA5600GAL washer that I have had for about 19 years. Recently, I put clothes in it and turn on the machine like I have done thousands of times. It would not start. It does not make a sound. Like it is DEAD! Before it died, I remembered that at times, various times during the recent months I had to regularly clean the water valve screens of calcium crud coming through the water hoses due to a horrible noise it caused when the machine took in hot water to wash hot water loads of clothing. Thus, I decided to install a new washer water valve, along with a timer and a new lid switch. I purchased and installed the factory recommended replacement parts. I made sure that I installed the new parts precisely the way the original parts were in. I, I then, turned on the machine. It still does not work. I checked the outlet. It works. I plugged in my radio to make sure of it. What other part in the washer could I check or change? not of the wiring look frayed or bad. Does the machine carry an internal fuse that might need changing?

Use a voltmeter to see if power is coming into the timer at the Black and White wires. If so, the timer is the likely suspect. You'll find the timer schematic and wiring diagram in the top console.
