Kenmore dishwasher

The dishwasher control panel will not work, it shows a lock is on-I try to reset it as the owners manual suggests (hold the dry button for four seconds) nothing happens. I figure it is either the door switch or the control panel. Any suggestions?

1) Control Lockout feature accidentally turned on by customer.
Press and hold the Air Dry key for 5 seconds to turn off (or on) the Control Lock feature.

2) Intermittent short of Air Dry key or circuit in keypad or keypad connection.

I have tried to holding the key, but no results. I am leaning to replacing the control panel. I have cleaned the conection to the control board from the key pad. NOTHING.

I think this feature comes on when there is a problem? but not sure. No one at Sears or Whirlpool is willing to help. Go Figure
