I hope you can help.  My Series 80 Kenmore washer just quit.  When I tried to start it today, nothing happened when I pulled out the button in its normal position.  I tried other positions and for a brief time water started to fill the bottom, but it stopped shortly thereafter.  I think I smelled a little burning.  The washer makes no sound at all and has never been a problem before.  Is this something I could repair myself?  I have the Repair Parts list.  Thanks for any advice.

Well it might be the timer. Set the timer on the asterisk mark and see if the washer will agitate.

About the icons: The beer is tip link, if a tech saves ya some money buy em a 6 pack. The small green square=personal message. The green dot is a link to my web page on appliance repair and other general BS I love to post. The letter sends me email and I wish I knowed how to do IM's without the IM lizards that pop up. Very annoying.

Thanks, JW, for the speedy response.  This washer doesn't have an asterick that I can find; what does the symbol represent?
