Freezer setting is going up to 9 by itself

First of all, big thanks to Repair-man for the diagnostic info.
I reset my refrigirator using 1,5 code. But, the freezer setting is going up to 9 by itself even I set it to 1.

That would be a failure in the control board. Not holding commands is an EEPROM failure

Here what I did. I run the Defrost Mode by entering 1,4 code. The refrigerator was working fine for 4 hours. Now it starts acting again, gradually moving freezer settings from 1 up to 9, changing the setting by itself every 5 min.
Do you still think that it's a control board issue? Do you know what is the warranty on it? it was manufactured in 2001. Any idea what is the price for the board?
BTW, I am trying again to run 1,4 to see what is happening.

There's just one main board being produced right now, but you should always look it up by your specific model number in case some changes have taken place. Any updates are usually reflected in the lookups.
