I will take your word on the diagnosis. I assume this board is under the touch pad area, and if it is how do I access it? Will I need any special tools to get to it? Do you have any idea of the approximate cost of the part? Thanks for the speedy reply!

The manual is on this forum here

To find the part, type your correct model number into the parts lookup on the upper left side of this page.

thanks for the info! I am not able to look at the repair manual because I am having adobe reader problems, so that will have to wait till tomorrow, but  i will assume that it should be fairly easy to get to. is there any thing else that will cause this board to burn up that I need to look at? or should I just spend the $80.00 with confidence that this will take care of it? thanks again for the info

Before ya spend any money remove the part and clean the contacts. Re install and retry.

Make sure the pin connector ( lower hinge area) has not become disconnected or loose. This is where it gets it's power.

Once you remove the escutcheon, you will see if it was a failed board or not. In many cases, the board failed due to a stuck solenoid on the right side of the dispenser. In this case, it melts the bracket and lots of other parts need to be replaced. Only a visual inspection behind the  escutcheon will tell. Just remove the drip tray and take out the 2 screws underneath.

I usually go to the bottom hinge and unplug the harness to keep from getting the shizzle knocked out of me playing with the dispenser, or you can just unplug the whole thing.

I finally got to taking this apart today and found that the control board is definitely cooked. the solenoid also got hot because the mount area is deformed and the spring loaded arm to open the ice dispenser also melted. my question is what is the best way to fix or replace this? all in one piece or buying individual parts. thanks again for the helpful info so far!

You'll have to buy them worms one can at a time :)

The fountain bracket, solenoid, board, & actuator rod for the  door will all have to be ordered. Use your model number in the parts lookup here to get started.

got all my parts delivered today, everything is in but the spring to close the ice door. i can't seem to get any tension on the spring. the instructions aren't real clear, but they say to give a 1/2 turn counter clockwise and insert into fountain bracket. any better pictures out there or tips?

i think i figured out the spring issue, back together and everything seems to work. only issue is its crushing all the ice. indicator light switchs from crushed to cubes, but all is crushed. any thoughts?

Pull the bin out and unjam the rod that shifts up and down in back. This changes the thing to crush. If the rod cannot move when the shifter yoke jumps up, the cubes will be crushed.
