Frigidaire Range stove will not work

I turned my oven on the other night and it started making crackling noses in the back of the unit and then a flame came out of the back. It would not turn off at first but finally after a few minutes it was off.  Now the oven does not work, but the stove top works.  What should I do?  The warranty expired about three month ago.  Thanks for any help.

The best approach is to unplug it and pull it out from the wall so you can see where  this event took place. There should be some signs of burnt marks if a wire or something touched the metal cover. This can happen if the stove is pushed up against the wall plug too far in some cases.  Have a looksee...it may be a minor fix.

some food like a piece of cheese will get on the bake element and cause a hotspot. The element will burn out. 35 bucks is a good price and it is easy to repair. Just kill the power The breaker will be 50 amps. Or pul out the bottom drawer and yank out the plug from the receptacle. here is your part:

The fire came from the back of the until.  Not inside it. Do you think it is still the same problem?  Thanks a lot for the info.

Sometimes these elements will CREEP the short and the short will travel a long way around the element. Have you examined that element?

Ok I have finally open my stove to see if there is anything that looks out of the ordinary and It all looks good. No burn marks.  What should I be looking for.  Guess I will be using the neighbors oven for my Turkey.

Well I found the problem.  I lizard got into the electric board where the main swich board is.  Now what do I do.  Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
