Frigidare refri not getting cold
« on: July 23, 2015, 03:23:37 PM »
I have a frigidaire side by side model number is FRS26LR5CWO
and it just stopped getting cold and not sure what happened

it was really dirty by the motor at the bottom so i did clean that and the fan at the bottom
was running so i pulled off the back cover in the freezer and that fan was working .
i did notice that there was some frost on the coils so i unplugged it for a day and plugged it back it
.  does anyone know to test the round thing on the coil ? sorry but forgot what is called and anything else that i can test would be help
helpful

After you started it back up, what is the frost pattern on the evaporator? (%of coils frosted up)

You have to remove the evaporator cover (inside the freezer), Then observe how much of the evaporator  If less than 1/3 covered you have a sealed system problem, in that particular refrigerator, likely an evaporator leak.  If you have access to any sort of refrigerant detector, you should be able to find the leak.  The correct fix for that would be to replace the evaporator which would be an expensive job. You would be better off to replace the refrigerator.
