Here's something to tell your GF about this motor situation. Remember the first post you made about the oily hot smell? (See, I listen) Anyway, Maytag factory overlubed thousands of these motors during manufacture. Many of them failed right away, but others have taken longer to show up in the field. Depending on which year the machine was purchased, the motor may have a 5-year part warranty thru Maytag. If this is the case, you should call them at 800-688-9900 and arrange service. Their labor charge is about what you would pay for the motor and install it yourself. ($128+)
