overheating 7E error code

My dryer is showing the 7E error code.
My kid started the dryer without any clothes in it and it is now stuck on this code.
Is there a way to re-set it?

Check:
· venting for restriction
· thermistor
· control board
· cycling thermostat (regular)

I must not understand, I saw the codes but I know it is not caused by most of the problems listed  (restriction, etc) since I know what likely caused it (running with nothing inside). I was thinking it was the control board...so that is why I was asking what to do with on control board to re-set it...

I usualy solve this problem with a new temp thermister. A good thermister has about 100,000 OHMs resitance at room temperature. This drops to about 18,000 OHMs at 140 degrees running temp.If this does not fix it , the control is bad. There is no re-set. Use your exact model number to look up the correct thermister.


The thermister is covered very well in the manual (Section 3-2) as well as the  control board and other sensors on the dryer. Be sure the vent is not restricted, as this will cause a 7E as well. To eliminate this as a cause, disconnect the vent completely and run the machine.

running a Dryer with nothing inside won't make it overheat.
