Replacing tub seal on washer, now what?

Ok, I got as far as getting the spanner nut off. Now for the inner basket.I tried both with the spanner nut on and with it off. I tried spraying, turning, pushing, pulling, prying, yanking,turning, pounding, kicking, cussing, and begging.
What am I missing?

When you tighten down the nut it makes the drive block all the more tighter. Remove the nut. Put some rust buster on there. Get a rubber mallet and knock hell outta the neck of the inner tub till it loosens up. Get mean with it. If you can't get that off then the washer will be useless leaking everywhere. Get a bigger hammer dude.

Removing the spanner nut is one of those jobs...

I have used this technique with 100% success, however you have to replace the nut afterwards. So if penetrant does not work try heating the parts with a torch before doing this.

Drill two holes on the face of the nut spaced at 30 degrees. Now give it a sharp whack, the nut will give in and start to turn.
