Maytag Washer Model mav7600aww, noisy

Everything is going to pieces around here, lol...

This has been going on for sometime now with our maytag washer.
When it comes to a stop at the end of the spin cycle it makes a very loud screeching sound.

Could this be a bad belt?

Its around 6 years old.

No, it's not the belt. It sounds like the brake package. It's up above the pulley on the bottom of the washer. Sometimes if you can spray some WD-40 up in there and it will stop the screech. You might have to replace the brake rotor and linning assembly, part# 35-2948.
