Amana Refrigerator ABB2227DES not cooling.

Hi everyone, my first time posting here.

Our amana refrigerator is about three years old.
Nothing is very cold inside this morning.

Is this something I could fix myself?

Look on the back wall of thr freezer and see if there is any frost build-up. Make sure the condensor coils underneath are clean. Are both fans working, one by the compressor and one in the freezer.

I do not see any frost build up on the back wall of the freezer.
I cleaned the coils this morning, but it has not helped.

The fans are blowing and the compressor is running and very hot.

I would guess it was room temp in the freezer when I unplugged it.

This is not good is it?

No, it's not good. You might have a bad compressor. I see alot of Amana's with bad compressors. The only way to be sure is to have a refrigeration tech put a set of gauges on the sealed system. I'm about 90% sure it's the compressor. Sorry for the bad news.

Going to have a appliance guy come look at it today.
Looking at our book the compressor should still be under warranty.

Good news, bad news kind of day.

It was the compressor, but it is under warranty.

Here is a little more good news, the replacement compressor is a much better unit than the original even though it's made in china. (just don't suck on the paint) You should get 10 to 20 years out of it. Don't hold me to that. good luck

I was wondering about that last night.
Would I be getting the same old crappy compressor or a new style that would last longer.

I sure hope this one last longer...
