Maytag Atlantis washer bearing and seal question

I was thrilled to find service manuals for my appliances here, but I'm not entirely clear on how to fix my own problem yet.

My washer is doing the very loud jet engine sound during the spin cycle. It's also leaking out the bottom during the spin cycle. So...from what info I've dug up, it sounds like I need to replace the bearings and probably a seal. Does that sound right? Also, can someone clarify for me exactly which parts I need to order? More importantly, is this a really difficult repair, something best done by a pro, or can the average mechanically inclined person do it?
