Hey,

I have a maytag neptune that's about 9 years old.  It's got a smell coming from it but it drains ok.  I always noticed there was residual water when I spin the drum.  Is the residual typical or should it drain 100%?

Have you tried using Affresh to clean the washer and remove the odor?

In your first post, the sloshing sound you  hear when you spin the tub is a hollow balance ring that is filled with a saline solution and sealed. Has nothing to do with your odor. The Affresh will help, and try to eliminate the cold water washes in favor of hot or warm to reduce leftover soap residues from stinking so much.
