VK 63-16 Need parts for vintage Tappan 60 series
« on: November 04, 2008, 07:27:27 PM »
I am having a huge problem locating parts for my Tappan stove. I have tried numerous sites and nothing comes back with my model #. It looks to be around a 1952 Doughboy Deluxe. The serial # is 227707 Picture attached). I also have another Tappan Deluxe but I am unsure of the Model #, it looks to be AV667I1E serial # 72400. I hope you can help!  T

What are you looking for?, this is my specialty. Try theoldapplianceclub.com or AntiqueGasStoves.com If you need gas components I may be able to help as well.

I need a burner valve.

How do I find parts? I don't know how many times I've typed my model # in and I get nothing back. Am I looking in the right spot? The numbers on the controls for the oven show VK 63-16 for the model # and 227707 for the serial #.

Get some white lithium grease. take the valve apart and sand it down, apply the grease and put it back together.

I have seen more stoves catch on fire from people using lithium grease to make valves turn. There is a grease made specificallyfor re-packing gas valves.

There is this three winged shim looking thing and one of the wings broke off and the other stove I have has the lighted controls and the valves are different. I have been unable to locate any other numbers on the stove.

Pics of model and serial # info from both stoves. I don't know if this will help, but I thought it couldn't hurt. I appreciate your help!!  T

I would try the 2 places I mentioned @ the beginning of the post,It may be best to get the whole valve. When you get the parts also get some valve cream or grease depending on who you go with. The valves should be smooth enough to turn with your little finger by itself. any sign of metal friction or stiffness they need servicing(re-packing so to speak) If no luck contact me again.

I am an old stove guy myself. We used to sell valve grease at appliance parts where I worked for years. I always assumed it was white lithium grease. I will have to go out into the shop and dig around and find a tube of it and see what it is. They say yer mind is the first to go.
