Ancient Stackable Kenmore Washer... dead

So, my kids have no clothes to wear to school tomorrow!!!! I washed one load tonight, then I went to wash the next load and nothing. I have an ancient top loading stackable Kenmore washer, no vehicle to get to a laundry mat, and 100.00 for the next two weeks. It's as if it's getting no electricity. I checked the plug and it is plugged in. The dryer is plugged into the same outlet and it works fine. I read the other Kenmore posts and don't see anything similar. Perhaps there is a fuse? I'm actually rather mechanically inclined, but how the **** do you even get inside this thing, I don't see any screws! Must be through the bottom..... this is going to be such a drag!!!! Help!!!!!!

There's a model number either inside the washer lid or on the very top of the dryer cabinet on a small sticker (grab a stepstool). With these numbers, maybe we can help you. Without them no one can.

Okay, I found the serial number on the lid, at least I hope this is right. It says Stylemaster 909484 Rev. B. Thank you sooooo much.

Chances are it is simply a bad lid switch. Easy to get to and done from the front. Be sure to turn off the breaker to the machine before you open the washer up.

Unfortunately, you will not be able to order parts until you find the real model sticker, likely on top or side panel. It begins with 110. and has 8 more numbers after that. Also check in the dryer door for it, who knows...

Look at where the lid strike goes into the hole and hits that switch. The hinge on the switch might be busted. You can remove the screws on that switch and get it out from under the top and manipulate it into working until you can get a new one. Them kids need clean clothes!
