frigidaire not freezing or cooling makes a periodic hum noise then stops,

  ok guys
           im new at this forum,what im try to find out is could it be freon or collant level in tank needs filling? side by side refridg/freezer coils under neath,have cleaned coils after one suggestion,,,fan is turning.what it does is it makes a humming noise periodically like somthings not icking in like its supose to,,,hearing the noise  come from the coil and or fan thats blowing area,,,fan is constantly running i think,,food in freezer is thawing,,,,refrid section is getting warmer,,,basically i know its not cooling any more,,,and its not that its not cooling as cool ,,,its not kicking in to cool at all,,,placed towel underneath freezer  because it thwing out,,,,///bad time for me and family because funds are low. could it be that freon or collant level needs to be added or during the life of this model can you do this,,,i have no clue at all,,,all i know is i need answers,,thanks guys

Clicking and won't cool?

Usually a bad compressor. You can do like we do and try a new relay/overload for the compressor, but 90% of the time it won't fix it.
