Kenmore 80 Series Washer

I have a Kenmore 80 Series Washing Machine that is 2.5 years old and it suddenly stopped working. I have no ideal what is wrong. It has power and water will come in but that's it. It just makes a quiet buzzing sound when I put it on any cycle besides the fill cycle. I did put it on spin and once in a while it will jerk a little but that's it. It won't drain or agaitate or anything. I only paid $350 for it and can replace it for about $400. Is it worth trying to fix it since it is relatively new?

Any feedback would be a appreciated!

The buzzing noise may be the motor trying to start, see if something might be in the water pump, if it cannot turn neither can the motor since it is clipped right onto the motor shaft...

Thanks for getting back to me Pegi! I guess I'll open it up and take a look. I guess I have to remove the pump and find a way to open it up. Can you open up a water pump and look inside? We are on well water and I know that there is a lot of rust in the water so I don't know if that could build up in the pump and jam it. I really don't know anything about appliances but I did see on the website how to take the casing off the washer. I also couldn't find a manual for this particular washer. It didn't come with one and I was looking online unsuccessfully.

Hello Pegi,
Thanks so much for sending me the video on how to remove the water pump! That was easy! I opened up the pump and found a baby sock jammed in it. How it worked it's way in there is beyond me. I guess from now on I should wash the baby in a bathtub. HeHe! I got it out and put the washer back together and it works fine now. I did have trouble getting the shell of the washer back on. Thanks so much you saved me about $400. You are the best I have already recomended this site to my co-workers.

Thanks, we appreciate your follow up on this....the socks can go up over the top of the spin basket if the water level is set on high and there is not much in the washer, suggest the small items be put into a mesh bag so this will not happen again....
