GE Spacemaker XL Microwave Won't Heat

Microwave won't heat food.Everything else works fine.Has 1 full year warranty and 9 year limited additional warranty that covers cost of Magnetron Tube but we would have to pay for service trip and labor.

Is this most likely the problem? Is this something we can repair ourselves or is it really complex?

Can't believe we're back here in the forums! Last week it was our clothes dryer that wouldn't get hot! Ugghh

Yes, it is most likely the problem, but in either case, it might be worth it to have factory service diagnose it. You would only be out the trip charge if the repairs exceeded your budget versus replacement.

We will be having a repair tech come out.After doing a little research we've learned about the danger of serious electrical shock  from microwave ovens even when they're unplugged!! We had no idea about that!!  GE pays for the Magnetron,(cheapest one we've found is $118).Hope that's what it is !! Thank you again AJ.Com !!
