GE Washer Won't Pump, Help?

Just inherited GE Washer. It spins and agitates fine. When the drain hose is at ground level, a steady stream will come out, whether or not the washer is on the "drain" cycle. It does not speed up any when the washer is on the drain cycle.

Any ideas? Is it the pump or timer or an old sock in the line?

Get the front panel off the washer>remove the pump(be ready for the water) Give the front portion of the pump a twist and it easily comes apart. Get the strings, coins, or sand out of it. Put it back together and retry.
Note: try not to run the pump if the electric coil is wet and clear both the tub hose and drain hose of any obstacles.

Is there a guide somewhere for taking the front panel off? Is it a shell, like the Roper or is there more to it?

It is kinda hard ta get that sucker off. Use a putty knife and wiggle them spring clips between the top and front panel. Toe clips hold the bottom of the front panel firmly in so you use downward pressure and pull the top of the panel towards you. Cuss if you have to.
