Whirlppol Dryer wont start
« on: October 26, 2008, 08:39:36 PM »
Model Number: LE8650XWW0 icon

Hey all,

My wife was doing laundry and when she changed the load the dryer would not start again. I have checked the door switch and it seemed to be working fine.

The timer makes a buzzing sound like it is running. I took a tester and it all seems to be getting current to it.

The funny thing is, I got mad one day trying to fix it and slammed the door and it started running, Then when I opened the door it cut off and hasnt worked since.

Is there any ideas of what could be the problem? I tried to connect the door switch wires direct to see if it would work that way but it didnt help.

Any help would be appreciated having 2 kids and no laundry mats close by.

Thanks in advance.

Reach inside and turn the dryer, If it is stiff or hard to turn then you need to check the slides and wheels. Get your wife to hold down the button and prss the start button while you spin the drum. If it starts then you has a bad motor.

LE8650XWW0 Wiring Sheet

I appreciate this, but its all foreign to me, Plus it is already on the back of the dryer.

Well it has been this way for a week now. So it is definitely cooled down and still does nothing.

With the Dryer un-plugged, check the continuity of this Thermal Fuse on the Blower Housing...

look close and you will see the fuse on this picture on the back side of the dryer mounted on the blower wheel/filter housing. Right next to the control thermostat.

I checked it and it seemed to look real good, Dont look like anything is wrong with it.

If I was to eliminate the door switch and connect the wires straight together shouldnt that rule out the door switch? I am asking because of the time I slammed the door shut and it started working again.

Thanks for everyones help.
