dryer doesn't seem to get hot enough

My recently aquired used maytag performa PYE3200AYW seems to run well, but it takes forever to dry a load of clothes. The inside seems only warm, not really hot when I open the door mid-cycle. There is no repair manual available here, but any advice on where to start and what to look for is greatly appreciated!! I've already given up on the washing machine that wouldn't agitate....I really hope this one can be fixed!!

You'll need a voltmeter to check for the correct voltage at the dryer cord connections on back. This is the best way to ensure you have the right  cord configuration and to be sure the house is sending the proper current to the dryer. If the breaker is only  giving 120 volts, the motor will run but the unit wont heat right.

the household current is definitely 220v....on a 30amp breaker
I did see that link for the manual but didn't see the model number listed there, is that a universal manual for maytag performa dryers??

did all the steps dryer is clear you guys said. the element heats up and then,  shuts down after 10 seconds , how do you

Ma'am, I know what the house current is.

Unless you have a proper meter, you won't find the solution to the problem. It starts by verifying the voltage at the dryer cord. There maybe nothing else wrong with the dryer.


And the manual should cover the basics on any performa dryer, even though your specific model is not listed.

remove the front panel and get the mess out of it.
Then check the blower wheel, part # 31001317
