Maytag agitates during the spin cycle

 My elderly aunt's washer is agitating during the spin cycle.  Does anyone know what might cause this?  She paid a repair fella $60 to look at it and he was supposed to get back to her with a solution.  Haven't seen him since.

Yes.  I only on a normal wash, though.

Is it spinning and pumping out the water or stayng in wash the whole time?
If that is the case then the timer is shot.

It is spinning and agitating at the same time.  The water does pump out.  If you still think it is the timer, where is it located on the machine and can I buy one through this website?  Thanks for your replies
