whirlpool washer high agitate noise and slipping

my washer makes bang noise and slips on heavy duty agitate only. it only slips with cloths in it . 3 bath towels will make it slip or a couple pairs of pants. gentle agitate and spin cycle are fine. have eliminated dog ears as problem and put in ring and pinion gears in case as ring gear had bites in areas. put the unit back together and have exact same problem. any ideas ?
