I finally had the time to wire up the motor and noticed there was no blue wire. :o there are white, red, brown, black, yellowand orange wires. The model # off the old maytag washer is a606 and the s.n. 587611. any ideas? ???

...To reverse the flow as shown you would only need to do 2 things. 1st allow the motor to come to a complete halt. Then flip the cheater cord over and plug it in again...
This is AC, reversing the Power Cord won't change anything,
you must reverse the Start Winding only.
says you :D

You are correct reverse the start wires changes the polarity and the motor runs the other way. I use a lamp cord not a 3 prong male as pictured. I just flip the cord in the receptacle instead of reversing the leads. Same effect.

Won't work. The Start Windings have to be out-of-phase with respect to the Run Windings...

OK what if I had 2 cheater cords. One hooked to B and C
The other hooked to A and D. I simutaineously plug both in at the same time but quickly unplug the start winding. That would make it go in one direction. Then I would let the motor come to a halt leave the run winding cord in the same position But this time I flip the start winding cheater cord and insert them both at the same time, quickly removing the start winding once again. The motor would then be turning in the opposite direction. Do you agree with that?

I guess voters can now rate you + or -  (wasn't me) on any post.

I don't know if they can give you a + on each different Topic.
