New fridge brands
« on: July 12, 2017, 08:46:37 PM »
I need to replace my refrigerator. After my experience with my Maytag washing machine I thought I would ask here first to find out which brands were recommended, or advised against. Which brands last the longest without repair? Which brands have the best availability of replacement parts. I was looking at a Samsung, , he, LG, and a kitchenaide. Looking at these primarily for the style and features. Ice and water in door, top fridge/bottom freezer, middle drawer (I could take it or leave it). I would prefer a counter depth model.

Any suggestions?

Thanks again,

I'm a little surprised that no one has an opinion on this. From a little more research I have found that LG and Samsung appear to be the preferred brands from a reliability standpoint.

Stay away from Samsung and LG!!!  Their design is awful.  It can take weeks to get parts and most servicers won't work on them.  Stay with Whirlpool and GE brands.  GE is now owned by Haier.

Also, LG and Samsung are not reliable.  Don't believe the advertising hype.

stay away from Samsung and LG!  My LG fridge had two bad compressors in a three year period.
Buy a basic sided by side GE

At this point frigidaire would be your best bet.
LG, bad compressors
Samsung, bad defrost
Whirlpool, leaking evaps
GE, bad programing and fan motors
Frigidaire has bad ice room issues but that was just redesigned to hopefully fix it.

When customers ask for the best brand to by I tell them there is no best anymore,  but I find Whirlpool built seems to be least bad!
