665.16023402 kenmore diswasher will not start

i have tested both door swithes.  i have by-passed door switches.  the unit does get power because when i press the cancel button it start to try and drain.  i put the power on and used and outlet tester to see if the wires leading to the switches had power.  it did not register power.  i assume these wires are not getting power.  the switches are obviously pressed in when door closes which let the circuit be completed?  that would mean the one wire leading to a switch would be hot and one would be the return?  it should have lit up the tester correct?

You said the dishwasher will act like it wants to drain...in other words, you get some response from the dishwasher.

If it runs for a second then stops or won't fill and wash, then you have control issues, not door switch problems. Also check the float switch to see if it is giving power to the water valve to fill.

If you're using one of those outlet testers with just the "light",
it won't show the Door Switch connection because it's in the Neutral side of the Line.

it will not start at all.  the start button and the type of wash(normal, pots, etc) will not work.  just the cancel button works.  i did have some luck about 2 weeks ago.  i would take off the door switches and disconnect the wires.  i would reconnect them, turn power on, and it would work.  i did this twice.  Now this process does not work.  How can i test to see if those wires leading to the door switches are working or how do i test the controls?
