C236 how to replace fan switch on electric jenn air downdraft

Cant seem to see how cover comes off or switch will go in. Thank you jimmyl

On the mounting plate shown below, the fan switch is mounted using 2 Pal nuts on the underside of the escutcheon. The entire plate comes off by removing 2 more larger screws on the back edge and sliding the whole thing back about 1/2".
The switch comes with new Pal nuts.

Are the screws on the outside or inside of cover.There are two screws on back outside of cover but when I take them out the cover does not want to lift off. Could it be stuck with grease. On the escutcheon assembly it shows # 9 and 10 screwing from inside. Also does the cover come straight up or slide back to the front or back. thanks for the help. Jimmy

The entire plate comes off by removing 2 more larger screws on the back edge and sliding the whole thing back about 1/2".

Since I assume the fan switch was ruined by grease penetration, the escutcheon is likely also  glued down with the stuff. With the back screws removed, slide the thing back towards the fan opening and lift it up. Use a de-greaser spray around the  egdes first if you so desire.  I guess it goes without saying, but always disconnect the power before doing something like this.
