Kitchen appliance recommendations
« on: October 14, 2007, 09:34:55 AM »
Hi All,

We will be re-doing our kitchen soon and need to replace all the appliances(frig, dishwasher, gas cook top). I guess we would like to keep all the appliances the same brand so they all match. What I would like to know is what brands have the best reliability as a family. What brand would you pick? We're not looking to go high end i.e. sub-zero, wolfe, viking but we do want something stylish and functional.

Thanks

My philosophies:

If it ain't broke, don't fix it and When all else fails RTFM (read the "funny" manual)

I would also recommend Whirlpool.  I have them now and have had them in the past and they are the most reliable and the most easily serviceable, although I rarely have problems with mine.  Jealous that you are going to redo your kitchen, I would love to redo mine!
I prefer to call my self a handyman, because it sounds better than Jack of all trades!

I like WP/Kit Aid too.
Allot of people are throwing away good appliances because they are "old".
Old ones can be painted(like a car can) . If done right, can look good.
Believe it or not, many of the "older' appliances are higher quality then new ones in the store.
My  neighbor spent Thou$$$ on a kitchen "upgrade".Pulled out the "old" working appliances. Now is out of money.

What kind of appliances do you have now? What will you do with the "old"ones?

Whirlpool and GE add warranty's to any new items you purchase, they do not last like they used to.Parts have increased in price on many.  O0

Bosch/Whirlpool

As far as dishwashers go, I always recommend the Bosch or Kitchenaid (WP)  O0

for most kitchen appliances I think whirlpool has about the best bang for the buck, with the exception of their direct spark ignition ovens....   I'll take a frigidaire (or pretty much any other brand... why does whirlpool have to be crazy on this one appliance?) hot surface ignition any day....

Last I seen the cat was when the appliance guy was here.....
