Kenmore Dryer No Heat
« on: October 04, 2008, 02:44:26 PM »
I have a Kenmore dryer model 110.86873100. It is no longer heating. Motor turns the drum fine. I have only checked the breaker, and dryer vent so far and no problems. If someone can give me a breakdown on a diagnosis procedure
(tree chart), I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks VM.

On the rear side is where you start. Unplug the dryer and remove the rear panel. On the right hand side is the heater. It has 2 safetys on it(top and bottom left side) if either of these are open then you will have no heat. Of course the heater itself the 2 bottom fat wires should have continuity. Note: Remove at least 1 wire from each item you check for continuity so you won't get a false reading or a back feed.

Hi JW
I checked all the components in the circuit, and found my heating element to be open. It is reading infinity on my meter. So I think my element is bad. I will get a new one on Monday, and let you know the result. VM
