Replacing Ceramic/Glass range cooktop

I'm sure I'm not the first (and not the last) to ask for help in replacing the glass/ceramic cooktop on our range.  An accidental dropage on our 3 month old range created crackage and breakage and lots of ...... words.  I have found the cooktop parts at a few sites but no instructions.  As one poster put it "I can drive but a road map will help me get there" (or something similar).

take the screws outta the trim and remove it then she slides right out.

The Ceramic/Glass cooktop on this model has no perimeter frame/trim (frameless).  Are there brackets under the cooktop?  I haven't slid the range out yet because is really heavy and I don't have the new cooktop yet.

I have never replaced one but I have ordered several of them and have asked about it. I was told you remove the front grill and the glass slides out.

Yes, this is the correct model number (KitchenAid KESS907SSS00).

Ok, here are the factory part numbers for your cooktop if you do not already have them.


Biscuit: W10110270
White: W10110269
Black: W10110271

Enter your part number in the two parts search boxs we have in the top left corner to find the best price online.

Looks like you would slide the range out from the counter.
Then remove the screws from around the frame that is under the glass edge.
