Ice maker acting up

I have a Whirlpool side by side frig model #GD5PHAXMS10 serial # SR2750743.
For the last year it has been acting up and it will make ice for a few day to a week or so and then it will just stop for a few weeks. A few times I have found an ice cube stuck in the fingers and have pulled them out. But it has no set pattern to why it acts up. At least that I can tell. I can reach ofer the fingers and feel that the ice tray is full and frozen, but the cubes are not in the bucket. Right now the tray is full with ice cubes and the fingers are pointing out the door and an upward angle.

Any help would be great to trouble shoot and replace or repair.

I have came acreoss this before. I believe you have a bad mold thermostat. The mold thermostat is what initiates the harvest cycle on your ice maker. To replace it you must remove the ice maker from the ice box. Take off the cover and remove the head. Remove the black plastic housing from the ice mold and yank out the mold thermostat from the inside of that black plastic housing.

Is there a test to verify that is the problem or is it just a question of replacing the part to see?
Also, do you have a part number and/or where I can buy this part?

You can remove the part and check it for continuity, It should be open at room temperature. Put it in the freezer for a few hours then quickly check it againg before it warms up. It should have continuity.

Jump out the icemaker as shown below with a jumper and see if it harvests the ice ok NOTE: only keep that jumper in T and H until you hear a CLICK then promptly remove it. If it harvests the ice then you is gonna need that thermostat Kimosabe. if it does not then you is gonna need a new IM.
