whirlpool duet washer now getting three beeps
« on: August 11, 2009, 04:20:08 PM »
Hi,

I have a washer that first gave out an error code of 70 and/or 71 and then just gave three beeps.....  after hitting the power button.

OK, so I followed the codes and ordered the CCU this did nothing and researched more.  I found a thread here that indicated the user interface was the issue as there was no communications to the CCU,,,

I just replaced the interface and still ONLY GET THREE BEEPS////     WTF~~

I have just about spent the value in cards as the unit itself and its just two years old.

can someone please assist,  I am fairly tech savey and handy,,  but this is crazy,,,

PS I need to get this sorted three weeks no washer and family of 5...  OUCH!!

TIA

Model wfw9200sq00

So, if you unplug the machine, wait 10 seconds, then plug it back in, do you hear a distinct click from the right rear top corner? (Don't press any buttons)

If it clicks the CCU is OK. The error code also states "Harness communication problem". Since we now have both a new User Interface and a new CCU, it stands to reason its a bad harness between the 2 parts. The current part number for it is 8183254 and I'd seriously think about ordering one.

Remember, the door must lock before the control will accept commands, so be sure you hooked up the door latch harnesses correctly when you did all your voodoo. One loose or broken connection can throw a wrench in the works.

OH CRUD<<<

right no click,,,  I did not recall that even when I was getting the error codes......  drat!

hang on  I have replaced the CCU  that where I started.....

OUCH  ,,, bad harness.....  the only links between my two cards came with that card.

now you note the door hook up,,, ,, I have not fooled with that,,,  the darn codes pointed to CCU  ....

just to be sure I was clear before,...  this unit does not do anything when plugged in,, no sound no lights,,,  only three beeps at the push of the power button.

soo  looking like I have more steps ??

THANKS for the fast reply,,,  I will check back sooner next time,,,,,

You may have to physically use the manual to check resistance values for the door lock to be sure it's making contact. The CCU will not accept commands otherwise. The tech sheet is under the lower panel, as you know.

Not to be the bearer of gloom, but it would not be the first time someone got a bad CCU from a dealer.

hmmm    OK  meter time I guess,,,  to the door lock,,,  lol..

right BUT you say it is not unusual to get a bad CCU?   hmmm  I got mine from WIRLPOOL... no one had the replacement (new version) in stock...    SOOOO  maybe I get to battle with them?>>    DRAT!!

OK just to recap...   measure the door...  IF its good ,...  call WP?

IF now the door shows bad any "quick fix" actions to try??

anyother thoughts??

thanks

OK  back at it,.....

finally found the meter, tech manual, and my sanity to have a new look at this unit.

after several attempts to match up the PDF photo (manual info) and the unit I have ,... I have concluded that I do not have the same unit nor is there any markings that indicate what each plug cluster (test point) is.

I am attempting to upload Photos but currently I can not get them small enough to upload.

can anyone point me to an updated image for the test points so I can proceed with the testing..

T/Y!!
