WHRILPOOL WASHER BROKEN

MY WASHING MACHINE STOPED AND WON'T GO INTO THE RINSE OR SPIN CYCLE. HOW CAN I REMOVE ALL THE WATER IN THE TUB AND CAN I FIX THIS PROBLEM MYSELF. ALSO HOW DO YOU OPEN THE CABINET ON THE WASHER WITH WATER IN THERE.

Flip the console up and unplug the lid switch like this.

THANK YOU FOR THE ADVICE IT SEEMED TO HELP. NOW I HAVE A PROBLEM PUTTING BACK THE WASHER. I CAN'T SEEM TO GET THE CABINET ON THE TABS. IS THERE ANY TIPS TO FIX THIS.

I always open the lid and tip the cabinet towards me. I slipp the front edge of the cabinet under the baseplate and tip the case forward. I make sure I don't mash the fill tube. I snap down the S clips and plug in the lid switch. I don't worry about getting the cabinet spot on because sooner or later the coupling or the pump is gonna need replacing. I have one of these machines here in the house.
