Frigidaire Range, Oven Door falls Open
« on: August 23, 2008, 08:29:17 AM »

Model #PLCS389ECFicon, the customer heard a loud bang from the oven while opening the door, and then quickly noticed, the heavy stainless steel door would no longer stay closed without some assistance. The noise and new found weight of the door indicated one of the door hinge springs had broken free and now the entire weight was being counterbalanced by the remaining spring. Once I had the door apart, the left hinge came out in two pieces instead of one so it had seen better days. Installed a replacement hinge , remounted the door to the oven chassis, and now this oven, including the door is operating correctly.   Do note: because stainless steel door panels weigh more than the painted glass, there will often be two different replacement part numbers indicated for your particular model.  Ensure you are ordering the correct hinge for your appliance.
