Whirlpool Direct Drive Transmission
« on: August 13, 2008, 02:19:00 PM »
Hi, I have a direct drive transmission that makes a squealing sound when it reaches the full spin speed.  Does anyone have an idea of what this could be?

Model Number: IJ43001 icon

It may be something in between the inner and outer tub.

Hey, Mr. Capone...

do you see any chance we could get some Canadian model number cross-references sometime in the forseeable future? We seem to be fielding a lot of unusual stuff blindfolded.

thats a bad model #

http://appliancejunk.com/forums/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;id=4  here is the service manual for your washer

i'd remove the cabinet and have a good listen where the noise comes from(note... you have to jump out the lid switch wires to make the machine spin with the cabinet off)

have a good look in all the holes in the bottom of the wash tub, maybe there is something stuck in there.
the spanner nut that holds the inner tub in could be loose/stripped.
once the cabinet is off look inside it.... if the inside has oil spray marks the transmission is leaking and the clutch is soaked in oil

Yes, sorry I never replied, all is well, there was a small pin that made its way in between the 2 tubs, luckily there was no further damage!  Thanks again for your help! :)
