Amana Bottom Freezer Refrig - Fan Cycling
« on: August 06, 2008, 11:30:43 AM »
Our 3 year old Amana refrigerator (bottom freezer) has completely stopped cooling.  The fan does come on for 2 seconds, then cuts off for 2 , then back on for 2...repeating.

Is there a reset required, or is this something more serious like a control board issue?

Probably a bad compressor, but here's the manual to check it all out. Big file, long download.

Thanks for the manual!  The compressor was replaced last fall, don't think that is the problem. (no relay clicking sound like before)  I'll read through the manual tonight to see what it has to offer.  Any further thoughts you might have would be much appreciated.

Replace the refrigerator control (Jazz board).

My lucky day!  I went through the service test described in the manual you sent and everything passed except the last one (#8).  It had no number, just a bar (8,-).  I reset it to the default indicated (8,5) and it started working again!

Thanks for your help!   :)

I do accept beer donations without reservation :)

If that board does not hold the program, replace it. As I mentioned, there were flaws in the original board. The usual symptoms were a - - in the display and the controls had to be re-set.
