Whirlpool Front load Dryer not working at all
« on: August 06, 2008, 11:30:21 AM »
This dryer will not start, the light is not on when the door is open, there is power to the plug-in but the machine will not work.  What could be the problem?

Blown thermal fuse somewhere. Fish out your tech sheet in the console and read.

There's one on the blower duct and another on the heater flue. If you type your model number into the diagrams lookup on the left, you can visualize each part.

The 2 thermal fuses were checked and they both have continuity, however the thermister was checked that is connected to the blower duct and it had no continuity, could this be the problem?

Au contrere, Pierre.....Not THE problem, but certainly A problem as well.  Has nothing to do with the door light, etc.

If I were you, I'd start with a proper voltage check at the rear where the cord connects to ascertain there is 240 volts from L1 to L2. Checking the breaker is not enough, for it won't reveal a loose or burned wire at the cord block.

A bad thermister can lead to temperature problems, which can lead to a blown thermal cutoff.
