As a whole ALL companies have had issues and do have issue. It's how that company stands behind the product and fixes the issue. They all break down. I have never had an issue getting parts for LG. I personally love working on LG products. I grab the model number DL the tech book from tech assist and BOOM I have everything I need. It's well thought out easy to understand. If I get stumped their very helpful tech line is just a phone call away. Wait time for their tech line is usually under 2mins to talk to someone, other companies can't say that. Heck the tech line will even give me part numbers, while other companies won't/can't.
Consider an extended warranty and add a surge protector to the fridge to help prevent possible electrical spikes down the line.
All in all, more bells and whistles, more problems...
