LG Refrigerator: Er-dH Error

Complaint: Display on LG refrigerator shows Er-dH and the refrigerator is not cooling good.

I took a look inside the freezer and found the inside back wall had frost build up on it.


Solution: I fired up the laptop and took a look at the service repair manual for this LG refrigerator.

The Er-dH error code that was being displayed is a defrost heater error code.

Using the step by step troubleshooting guide that is included in the service repair manual it was easy to determan that the defrost relay was stuck.

I had to replace the main PCB and the fuse that was located above the defrost heater in order to get this refrigerator back in working order.

How much did that board cost ?  Was it difficult to obtain (locally etc) ?


BTW -

I am looking at purchasing an LG french door type refrigerator( w/o door water and ice dispenser) for about $ 1500 . The shelving system and track on the freezer seems more well thought out the the Amana , Kenmore etc ( ok know it is subjective ) . How do the LG appliances compare in reliability / parts / repair cost compare to the other major brands ?  Should I be looking at one of the other brands instead ?

Being a LG dealer we get parts direct from LG over night or next day.
This refrigerator repair was a warranty job, so I did not notice the price of the board at the time.

I kind of like the LG refrigerators. They are easy to take apart and it's getting easier to get parts now.

I think you will be happy with a LG refrigerator.
