Got a call on this unit the other day,customer stated that the shocks had been replaced,new control board and 3,yes 3 motors,customers complain ,midway thru a cycle they hear a grinding sound that gets louder as it runs,then it stops.While I was there the unit ran fine.Any ideas?

The washer has the following new components:

Drive Motor—The drive motor is an electronically commutated direct drive 3-phase brushless DC design that moves the impeller/agitator and spin basket without the use of a transmission. The motor is comprised of a stator that is bolted to the base of the washer tub and a rotor that is attached to the drive shaft. The motor direction and speed is controlled by the machine/motor controller, and is monitored by a rotor position sensor, (RPS), located on the stator.


The wash basket rides on a hub and rises up with a load of water in it. When it does so, it disconnects from the spin drive hub underneath it. The grinding & stopping could be a failure of the basket to properly stay in position  during the wash. If you need to consult the service guide, you may download my copy here. (Large file 17+ MB)
