kenmore 2001front loading washer (Canada)

 Hi washer will load with water but will not agitate or spin.
If i turn timer knob to last spin cycle pump will drain water but thats it. I have a list of things to test if drain pump runs but motor does not. tests i've done so far :

1-pump runs
2-remove motor drive belt.reconnect power  and set timer to regulor wash . pulled knob out . checked timer line switch or door lock switch motor still does not run.
3- measure voltage. measured voltage bewteen 5 and 6 on six pin plug 5 was zero six was 120 vac -info said that if 5 -6 read 0 check connection in the timer switch or door lock. if meter read 120vac go to step 4.  And 5 read 0 and six read 120vac would't you know it.?

4- test i set timer to heavy wash position of the regular wash cycle and measured voltagebetween pins 1,2, 6 and 10 of theten pin plug to pin 5 of the 6 pin plug on the harness. INFO says pins 2,6,and 10 should read 120vac and idid not get any readings. info says pin 1 should read o vac and it did.

5 test info said if i did not get proper readings to then chacktimer contacts 1c to 1b, 5c to 5b, and 7c to7b for closed contacts and 3c to 3b for closed contacts. i got a little frustrated and tried the first one and could not get a reading

6 test checked fuse on speed control board it checks out okay

7 test checked ohms on the six pin plug pins all checked out okay.

My wildestuess is that i need a new timer.

In step 4 of your description, you verified the timer is not sending power to the motor speed control correctly.  Be sure to test your door switch according to the test sheet you are using. Then order a timer.

  Grampa says much thanks on timer puts my mind at rest.

I forgot to ask washer also seems to have a leak middle center bottom of machine any suggestions as to where leak might be coming from.

The tub on your washer is made in 2 halves, with a large gasket in between. It is this tub seal which is likely leaking. Trust me this is not a repair for rookies

You might have mentioned this leak thing first instead of casually mentioning it after the first post. Personally, I would not invest in any repairs on this unit at this point, since the leak situation is far more damaging than the timer issue. Why not get local  estimates for this before you spend money on just the timer and have to junk the machine shortly thereafter?

 I did the same test on a kenmore front load washer. I also thought it was the timer. Then I consulted the tech manual and it said to turn on heavy wash and run for 3 minutes, then check the voltage between pin 5 on both connectors. If it was 120 vac then the speed control board was bad. If it was 0 vac then it was the timer. It was the same problem, fill with water and no agitate or spin but would pump out with manual turn of timer.
