Kenmore Gas Dryer Not Heating
« on: August 07, 2014, 11:15:23 AM »
OK... I am working on a Kenmore 110.70901990 gas dryer that won't heat. It is not getting power to both the igniter and gas valve. Where do I start trouble shooting this one?

Start with checking white thermal fuse on back of dryer

It should have continuity when the fuse is unplugged? And power to one wire when the fuse is disconnected and the dryer is on?

Check continuity with one wire unplugged. If you have power to one side, you should have it also to the otherside

If the thermal fuse was blown the dryer wouldn't start/run at all.
Try running the Dryer with the ventilation tube removed from back of dryer to see if the dryer will heat and be sure you have good air flow coming out the back of dryer.
Check the Flame Sensor (p/n 338906), both Thermostat's and Timer.

I believe gas dryers will run with an open thermal fuse ,electric dryers won't run.

We had this up before. There are a few older model gas dryers that when the thermal fuse blows it will kill the dryer as they were wired in series with motor. So beware of this. Here is a old post.http://appliancejunk.com/forums/index.php?topic=13605.msg71528#msg71528

Got it, if the Thermal Fuse on a Gas Dryer is wired to the Motor then if it's blown out it will cause the Dryer not to run/start.
Thanks for the info.
