Welcome,

 Wow, that is something.

How old is your water heater?

Brand new .. house it brand new also check out the link in the first post its the thermocouple it lasts for like a year and then once it goes out thats when the fun begins ..... and are water heater is in the tightest spot .... but its no fun having no hot water ...

AJ:
That stinks, are you going to just replace the water heat then with a different brand?

We don't sell water heaters so I don't really do much work on them.
I end up replacing the one at my house about every 4-5 years because the tanks rust out and leak.

Ours is in the basement and easy to get to.

bathgate:
our is in the laundry room its just a pain to have to replace the thermocouple every 4 to 6 months .......... and the only place to get it is at Lowes .......... you would think that an appliance would last at least 10 to 15 years .....

as far a replacing it thats in the future as for now just going to have to deal with it but i will stay far away from whirlpool water heaters and just stick to there other products
