My refrigerator is too hot to touch on one side
« on: July 11, 2014, 03:51:41 PM »
So I got 2 problems with this fridge.  LG side by side Model # LSC26905TT

1) The surface of the fridge on the left side where the icemaker is, is too hot to touch. So what is this telling you?I think the icemaker fan is not working. Is this correct?

2) Behind the fridge at the bottom right, there is a fan but it is not working. This fan is next to - I think- engine.

---------------------------

I think my fridge is working more than normal so can someone help me?

That condenser fan should be running any time the compressor is. Check to see if you have voltage at the fan plug when it is calling for cooling. If you have voltage the motor needs to be replaced. That is why the side of the cabinet is hot. If you set up a small table top fan and blow air over the condenser it would reduce the heat on the side of the cabinet till the fan can be replaced.
If you don't have voltage at the fan when the compressor is running check it at the board. If you don't have it comming off the board, replace the board.

Thanks
But there are 2 fans right?
1 fan for cooling the compressor at the bottom and 1 fan to cool the icemaker engine/machine
Because 1 of them is at the bottom and the icemaker is at the top left side so it can not be the same fan.
I am confused

1 Fan is for the condenser and one for the evaporator. I don't see a fan for your ice maker on your model ??

If there is no fan for the icemaker then why is that side of the icemaker very hot?

I'm guessing you didn't set up a fan like I suggested to help cool the condenser coils since the condenser fan isn't working for you.
It's hot because there is a hot loop to help control condensation on hot days.
Set up a fan, monitor it. You should notice it cool down quit a bit. If you don't set up a fan till you can have someone look at it. You are running a risk of burning up your compressor too.

The icemaker gets very hot as part of its normal cycle. There is a heater that heats the mold just before the ice cubes come out. If it stays hot you have a problem.
